Common House Chattanooga’s General Manager

To say Rachael Haas has been an anchor for Common House Chattanooga would be an understatement. Since coming onboard in March, she’s been hustling as our General Manager, forging connections as well as overseeing club operations and staffing.

An accomplished hospitalitarian, Rachael brings her wealth of knowledge to the House, having worked for such venerated restaurants as Zaytinya by José Andrés and the Michelin-star rated, Rose’s Luxury.

“There's no better feeling than making someone feel special or welcome or celebrated,” states Rachael. “I love being able to introduce new or exciting things, and having someone else share my excitement over a new food or a great wine.”

After graduating from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, she became a server at DC’s acclaimed Zaytinya, where she fell in love with the industry. Over time, she worked her way up from a server to managerial roles, becoming the General Manager of Rose’s Luxury and the Director of People at The Duck & The Peach.

Perhaps surprising to some, Rachael is an introvert (a proud INFJ!), but that quality is an asset in her managerial prowess. She is a deep listener, who has an uncanny ability to understand the needs of others. As she notes, “My approach to hospitality is to really watch, listen, and feel what people around me are saying, either through verbal or nonverbal cues.”

Earlier this year, Rachael, her husband, and two cats moved from DC to Chattanooga to be closer to her sister, Emily. “It was like Kismet how all these pieces fell into place,” she states. “As the pandemic lightens up, I’m excited to meet new people, shake off this past year, and be part of creating this community.”
