MEMBER FOCUS: Arnold Alexis
Arnold Alexis, Image Consultant
IMAGINE IF MARIE KONDO had the fashion acumen of Giorgio Armani and the social media savviness of Logan Paul. Such a person may seem like a mythical being (how many people can organize like a pro and create amazing style and branding?). However, you wouldn’t have to look much further than Chattanooga to realize such a person does exist.
Common House Member Arnold Alexis is an image consultant whose work encompasses everything from closet clean outs to social media consultation and creative direction for photoshoots. Staying connected to Chattanooga’s vibrant community and discovering new sources of inspiration have been key to his success. And he credits Common House with being a gathering place where he can inspire and be inspired.
“I’m at the House five days a week. I adore everyone, from members to staff,” Arnold starts. “It’s amazing how you can spend a full 24 hours here, and not even realize that you’ve just spent the whole day at Common House. You can eat breakfast, co-work, attend a program, hang out by the pool, work out at the gym, enjoy happy hour with friends, and watch the sunset over Lookout Mountain. This is exactly what Chattanooga needed, and I am so glad to be part of it.”
Fostering connections drives Arnold and his work. Arnold became interested in the world of fashion about seven years ago when he moved to Chattanooga. He got a job at the retailer Buckle, Inc, which is where he was first exposed to wardrobing, style, and design. "I didn't realize it then, but the minute someone walked through the door, you became their personal stylist." Although he left retail for the fitness industry in 2017, Arnold never stopped helping people declutter their closets, find the perfect outfit for a special event, or shop for new clothes without breaking the bank.
Arnold began to organically grow his business and was able to scale, even during the pandemic. "I feel very fortunate that I was able to grow my business during 2020, which—as we all know—was such a marvelous year for everyone…" Arnold chuckles. He then describes how he began offering social media and branding consultation in addition to his OG personal style services. His new add-ons took off, and more and more people began seeking out his help.
But Arnold soon faced a quandary: what would he call himself? His work now encapsulated so many different fields and passions that he wasn't sure how to narrow it down to one single title to put on a business card. Ultimately, Arnold landed on 'image consultant,' which fits what he does to a T. Whether it's a styled fashion shoot (see his work for Scout Guide in his portfolio) or a social media redesign, Arnold brings his vision and personality to people IRL and online.
"It's so rewarding to see that little sparkle of relief after helping someone clean out their closet. Likewise, it's meaningful to watch brands and businesses grow their presence online and just really flourish, you know?" Arnold mentions how his work never feels like work. He takes such pleasure in helping people no matter the platform or avenue.
